My name is Rianna and I am a metalhead. I’d like to thank you for joining me on my quest to learn and explore the wild beauty of the genre of heavy metal.
I have always appreciated nearly any music considered “heavy.” I was partially raised by Much More Music and my mom’s expansive alt-rock, grunge, and punk-heavy CD collection; falling in love with heavy metal was nearly a natural progression from genres I already adored! That, and, to quote the title of the Less Than Jake Song, “All My Friends Are Metalheads.”
I gravitated to various metal genres throughout my music taste’s evolution for tons of reasons. Power metal became an epic genre for setting the mood for climactic Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons battles, hair metal became a go-to for cardio sessions (try not to sprint when you hear “Kickstart My Heart” or “Twilight of the Thunder God” during your next cardio session), and death metal came in handy for managing anger at the truly rage-inducing moments of my life.
Metal has been my therapist, my hype man, my study buddy, my supportive friend, my constant companion, and one of the true loves of my life, and I hope it can be at least one of those things for you, too! Rock on!
